The Difference Between CBD Hemp Oil & Hemp Seed Oil

Now-days, a lot of confusion exists between CBD oil (CBD hemp oil) and hemp seed oil. The vocabulary around a product containing hemp seed oil is sometimes unclear or leading to confusion. Knowing the difference will help you buy quality products that answer your needs. We hope this blog will clear up this confusion and highlight one of the main ingredients of REBORN products: Hemp seed oil.

But first, the origin of Hemp.

Hemp comes from the non-psychoactive species of Cannabis sativa L, which has 0.3% or less of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Hemp is similar to marijuana and comes from the same plant family (cannabis), but is genetically distinct and different in its use, chemical makeup and cultivation methods.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil and hemp seed oil come from different parts of the cannabis plant. CBD oil uses the whole plant while hemp seed oil only uses the seeds of the plant. It contains a high concentration of CBD (cannabidiol) and is extremely low in THC (below 0.3%). CBD oil is mainly used in the alternative wellness space to help balance the body's internal systems.

Notice that CBD oil is different from marijuana oil or cannabis oil. Cannabis oil is made from cannabis strains high in THC (5-35%) and can cause mind-altering effects. Cannabis oil is legal only in certain states that have legalized marijuana.

What is hemp seed oil?

Hemp seed oil is the oil obtained by cold pressing the seeds of the Cannabis Sativa (hemp) plant. This process is similar to other carrier oils like sunflower seed oil or jojoba oil. Hemp seed oil does not contain THC or cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD). It is a rich source of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) which makes its nutritional value superior to most comparable seed oils. It contains a balanced 1:3 ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids. This is more than any fish and most fish oil supplements! These fatty acids are good antioxidants for the skin and may reduce the appearance of acne, wrinkles, and skin damage.

Besides the amazing benefits for the skin, hemp seed oil also provides the body with protein, nutrition, and the essential amino acids necessary for health and wellness.

CBD oil and hemp seed oil are different in many ways. CBD oil uses the whole cannabis plant and is low in THC (<0.3%) and high in CBD (12-18%). Depending on the cannabinoid dosage, CBD oil is mainly used in alternative medicine to help balance the body's internal systems. Hemp seed oil on the other side uses the seeds of the cannabis plant and contains no THC and CBD. It is mainly used as a food supplement or integrated into skincare products.

Now that you know the difference, no one can trick you anymore when you buy CBD oil or hemp seed oil! Make sure to look closely at the product's ingredients, the CBD dosage, the extraction method, where is it grown and manufactured.
